Area Reps and Coaches,
Please read and adhere to the following in regards to
scrimmages. There should be no scrimmages between
division within your area or any program that has not
been approved by the league. Sophomore teams can only
scrimmage other Sophomore teams, not Freshman or JV
teams, this is for any team level in your area. If you
have any questions please contact the league office or
your Coach at large for your conference.
7.19 No one scrimmage will be allowed before
the third week of full contact practices and will be
allowed with the approval of the League Secretary and
prospective Area Representative Supervisors. No team may
scrimmage more than one (1) time in a seven (7) day
period not to exceed more than two (2) hours in length.
Teams may have other scrimmages during the pre - season,
but only with other GEYTF teams within their division
and with league pre approval.
At no time will a GEYF team
scrimmage or play a game against a team outside of their
own division and or league. Any head coach and or
assistant coach allowing his or her team to participate
in an out of division or league game or scrimmage, will
face league disciplinary action up to and including
possible suspension and or immediate permanent removal
from the league. The League Secretary and Area
Representative Supervisors must be notified by each Area
Representative a minimum of (48) forty eight hours in
advance of any one scrimmage.
Cheer Tryouts will be
held the same dates and times as football.
See above.
The Southwest Freshman Football team won a 8-9 year old Divisional
National Title in Las Vegas this past Thanksgiving weekend. Their
first game was against Reseda, Ca. Cowboys which ended with
a score of 27-0 and the title game was against the Chandler, Arizona
Diablo team, who had an undefeated record of 11-0 on their
season. The game was a battle coming down to a stop by Southwest on
the goal line with 1:05 on the clock, who then held on to win
19-12. This team has battled through some very tough games, it was
only appropriate they would win a National Tournament at the end of
the game in typical fashion. After their only loss all season in the
Potato Bowl, they bounced back by representing Bakersfield and GEYF in
capturing this title. Southwest ended the season with a remarkable
12-1 record.
Hank Hobson former GEYF
Southwest and Stockdale Mustang player verbally committed to
play football for the University of Arizona, Andre Hadari

verbally committed to kick for USC. Former GEYF Southwest
Cheerleader & Stockdale Mustang player Gabby Nadal committed
to play Volleyball for the University of West Virginia. Note
all athletes will be playing on Scholarship.

MOJO is the
rallying cry of the Southwest football teams, and has come to be
like a second mascot for the program. Ask any football fan-
anywhere- who MOJO is and more than likely they will know about
Southwest Football. Stories about the origin and meaning of MOJO as
it pertains to Southwest are numerous, so numerous in fact that
another website could be devoted to that subject alone. One theory
is that someone was heard to say after a big comeback victory, "we
really had our MOJO working", from the popular blues song of the
same name. Another popular version of the story is that several
"over-excited" parents started the yell, and it took off from there.
Whatever the story, it is generally accepted that MOJO was first
yelled during a game in 1999, and by the next year was being yelled
in unison at all games. No matter how it started, in my opinion
MOJO simply means this - TEAM COMES FIRST.....give 110%, 100%
of the time....never say die....never accept defeat. Southwest
doesn't own the patent on these qualities, but it is what they have
done with these qualities that make MOJO unique. With several
Golden Empire Championships, and more important the life lessons
learn by every young person that has graduated our program, the
Southwest legacy can't be denied. With all our dedicated and
faithful fans screaming MOJO and a team of well-trained Southwest
players coming together as one, there may not be a force in the
realm of youth football athletics more powerful…
